Quick Update and a Glimpse of Some SUH-Weeeeet Art!!
about 3 years ago – Mon, Jan 25, 2021 at 07:43:23 AM

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update to let everyone know we’re still on schedule and all is well. We’re still on course for an April 2021 release.

Everyone on the team delivered great work, from top to bottom. Our art team really knocked it out of the park on this one and i had a great time writing this bad boy.

I wish there was more to share at this time but its the usual rounds of edits, tweaks and review going on right now. This is always the most tedious part for me personally, but it really helps to shape the project into something better in the long run.

Thanks for supporting Glimmering Crypt of the Ioun King. Without you guys there’d be no adventure module at all, so i am eternally grateful for your support and the chance to make this.

Updates... Updates Galore!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Dec 01, 2020 at 10:27:48 AM

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend and remembered that leftovers are for the weak!

Since many of you have backed multiple projects of ours, I'm going to go ahead and update everyone on the status of everything that's already funded plus a few things we have in the pipe for early 2021!

Here we go...!

Glimmering Crypt of the Ioun King

The adventure is finished, though the rules and stats are being tightened up. This will likely go into layout in early Jan 2020. All art and cartography has been turned in and is looking good.

The Phylactery 2

This zine reached its max of 48 pages and is currently in layout. This one has all the same feel and aesthetic of the first one and is looking tight. Once layout is done, you guys will be receiving the PDF and then we'll send it to the printer. Expect a thicker card stock for covers on this one. Everything is still on track for an on-time delivery to you guys.

Escape from Skullcano Island

As we've mentioned in previous updates, we have upgraded this book from a softcover to a hardcover and the book is currently at the printers. Our graphic designer and I have been in pretty close communication with the printer and we should be seeing a test copy any day. PDFs have already been sent out but I've polished up the file a bit and will be sending out an update version, as well as a link for your free copy at DriveThruRPG, for those of you who like all your RPG stuff in one place. I'm shooting for the last week in December for shipping as long as there are no hiccups at the printer.

What's Coming Up in 2021?

We've got a busy few months coming in the first few quarters of 2021. I'm not sure if there's any official announcement for Zinequest 3, but we'll be putting out THREE zines over the first few quarters, with some interesting add-ons.

The Phylactery 3 is more of the same as the first two, full of new locations, magical items, artifacts, monsters, NPCs and all the associated weirdness and grindhouse aesthetic that defines our past offerings. Its all OSR, all the time. Same creative team collaborating for round three!

RAYGUNS & ROBUTS! is a retro sci-fi zine full of atomic disintegrations, killer ROBUTS and all the jet-pack-tentacled-monster-skeleton-in-a-spacesuit-goodness we could jam pack in there. Many of us here at Planet X are deeeeeeep into this sort of vintage sci-fi, so this seemed like a logical one-off for us to dip our b-movie aesthetic into. This is OSR sci-fi, packed to its irradiated gills with all sorts of fun, retro stuff... and maybe even some 3-D glasses/inserts!

Magic & Shit is a new OSR zine that highlights (you guessed it) all things magical, from magical items to artifacts to spells to crazy magical anomalies to who knows what else. The zine is laid out like a classic 70s album insert, with all sorts of cool surprises in store. There's even an add-on for a rad blacklight poster! I had a ton of fun making this one and I think you guys are REALLY going to like it.

...and finally:

Jungle Tomb of the Mummy Bride for DCC! Due to popular demand (and the fine folks at Goodman Games opening up their license) Jungle Tomb of the Mummy Bride is coming to you in all its Dungeon Crawl Classics glory. Don't go thinking that its just a rehash of the original module either, because we've added an entire new "lost level", new monsters, patrons, spell-tables, expanded areas and magical items that are all pure DCC! My brotha from anotha motha Jeffrey Scifert is lending his considerable DCC chops to this one and so far its looking great. Throw in an all new cover, new layout and tons of extra art and I feel like we have something real special on our hands here.

Lots more coming in the last half of 2021 as well (including an adventure module I'm very excited about called "This Dungeon is Alive!"). Keep your eyes peeled and thanks to everyone for your continued support of this "little indie company that could" - you guys rule!

Quick Update!
over 3 years ago – Wed, Nov 11, 2020 at 05:51:06 AM

Hello everyone!

There's not a whole lot to say concerning an update for Glimmering Crypt of the Ioun KIng, other than to say we are still on track and all is going as anticipated. With Escape from Skullcano Island all wrapped up on the PDF/file end, our graphic designer extraordinaire Tracey Steele is working on The Phylactery 2 and will then be moving on to Glimmering Crypt of the Ioun King. When we receive the file back, we'll send it to our printers right away and get things cookin'!

Other than that, all art is turned in and our stat/rules guru Patrick Pilgrim is hard at work polishing up the crunchy rules bits of this module. We're pretty happy with the way things have turned out so far. Its a fun (if a bit dark) adventure with some twists and surprises along the way.... and that map by Dan Smith is glorious!

As things develop, I'll keep you guys up to date. Hope everyone is staying safe and rolling those dice! Thanks again for backing this project!

Current Status, Playtests, Restocks and Add-Ons Galore!
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 08, 2020 at 07:48:36 PM

Hey guys! Levi here with a quick update on everyone's favorite weird little grindhouse underdark concept project, Glimmering Crypt of the Ioun King!

Funding was an overwhelming success! All artists and contributers have been paid and now we go into tightening the whole thing up. Playtests have been RIDICULOUS on this one and I'm getting exactly the kind of reports back that I was hoping for - weird and wonderful!

It'll probably be a few months before those backer surveys go out, but when they do you guys will have plenty of opportunities to get your hands on some of our previous offerings here on Kickstarter. Restocks are in and they look better than ever. You'll be able to add-on whatever you like during the backer survey process with just a couple of clicks.

Again... thanks for supporting this project! Its a little different (and definitely weirder) than a lot of the other stuff we've offered, but I had a blast creating it. I hope you guys have an equally good time playing it.

We Did It!!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 02, 2020 at 03:18:22 AM

We did it... and by "we" I really mean "YOU" did it. That's right - thanks to YOU the Glimmering Crypt of the Ioun King is a reality. I was absolutely blown away by the support that this project has received and I can't wait to get this adventure module into your hands.

... and a HUGE thank you to all of you who have put your faith in past projects that are still waiting to be delivered (Escape from Skullcano Island shipping in December and The Phylactery 2 in February) and STILL backed this one. Planet X doubled down with a busy late year schedule and we really weren't sure if folks would feel comfortable backing multiple projects but we are glad to see that we've earned your trust. I can tell you this - our entire team has really doubled down to make sure that what we're delivering to you is not only worth your hard earned coin but also surpasses your expectations.

So what's next? I'm polishing up a few bits of the main adventure, along with a little punch-up on the sandbox portion. Once that is finished it will go to our editor, where I'm sure a change or two will take place. After that its on to layout and then to the printer! PDFs will come first, followed by physical copies once we have everything from the print folks. All art and cartography is already in, so hopefully we'll be able to deliver this bad boy to you early!

Thanks again to everyone who supported this project. Without you guys there really is no Planet X Games. I truly mean that 100%.

Keep your eyes peeled for updates and a backer survey in the months to come!
